Lake Home Exterior Cleaning in Minocqua
Minocqua is a town in northwestern Oneida County, commonly called the Island City: part of it sits on what was an actual island, reached by the Highway 51 bridge. At about 89 miles north of our Marshfield shop, it is the farthest town we serve.
A town that fills up in summer
Minocqua is a town of nearly 5,000 people with a summer population of around 15,000, and more than four in ten of its homes are kept for seasonal or occasional use. Half the homes in the town of Minocqua were built before about 1986, and about a quarter in 2000 or later.
If your place sits empty for months at a time, nobody is there to notice a gutter overflowing or a roof going green. That makes the outside worth a proper look when you open up.
The snowiest town we serve
Minocqua averages about 99 inches of snow a year, the most of any town we serve, with snow on the ground about 136 days. It sees about 199 nights below freezing and about 44 nights below zero.
That is a long season for whatever is growing on a roof. Moss and lichen can dig roots into shingles and cause leaks before the roof's time, and the black streaks are an algae, Gloeocapsa magma, that gives moss a fertile place to grow. Our roof cleaning is a low-pressure soft wash, and we protect plants and outdoor furniture first.
Trees and gutters
Minocqua is forest country, and needles and leaves from the trees over a roof end up in the gutters. Once they fill, water can back up into the shingles or behind the siding, so we clear and flush gutters and downspouts and send after pictures.
Decks and the house
Decks are wood or composite, and our deck cleaning handles both with gentle soft washing and an optional sealant.
The house itself gets a gentle wash with biodegradable solutions, safe for gardens, pets and local wildlife, which matters when the lake is the backyard.
