Stevens Point Exterior Cleaning
Stevens Point, the Portage County seat, grew from a convenient stopping point for loggers on the Wisconsin River. The Plover River joins the Wisconsin on the south side of town. Our shop is about 33 miles to the west, in Marshfield, and we work here on houses and on commercial buildings alike.
Brick, sandstone and siding call for different methods
The first buildings were wood. After a string of fires, new buildings started going up in brick and sandstone around 1880. About a quarter of the city's homes date from 1939 or earlier, and half were built before about 1972. That history explains a lot of what we clean here.
Masonry and siding are not cleaned the same way:
- Brick, stone and concrete are tough surfaces. Our power washing is built for them: brick, concrete, driveways, patios, sidewalks and curbs.
- Siding, painted wood and roofs get a soft wash instead, where the cleaning solution does the work rather than the pressure.
On many properties we use both: a soft wash on the house and pressure on the walks and drive.
A city with a lot of rentals
Stevens Point is home to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and its housing shows it. Only about half of the homes here are lived in by their owners, and only about half are single-family houses. The rest are attached homes, duplexes and apartment buildings.
If you own or manage more than one property in town, list them all in a single request through the form below. Larger buildings and storefronts go through our commercial pressure washing, with a quote for each building.
The weather side
Stevens Point averages about 49 inches of snow a year, lighter than the 64 in Wausau, but it still sees about 164 nights below freezing. Each of those nights freezes whatever water is sitting in a clogged gutter, and a blocked gutter can send water back into the shingles or behind the siding. A fall gutter flush is good insurance against a long winter.
