Schofield Exterior Cleaning by Lake Wausau

Schofield sits directly south of Wausau, along the eastern shore of Lake Wausau, an impoundment of the Wisconsin River, and the Eau Claire River flows into the lake here. It is named for William Scholfield, who arrived in 1851 to open a sawmill; somewhere along the way the city lost the first "l". Our shop is about 34 miles away, in Marshfield.

A city that is almost a third water

Water makes up about 29 percent of Schofield's area, by far the highest share of any town we serve.

Living that close to a lake makes it worth asking what runs off your house when it is washed. Our cleaning solutions are biodegradable and safe for your gardens, pets and local wildlife.

Older homes

Most of the houses on these streets have been through a lot of winters: half the homes in Schofield were built before about 1959.

What to expect on wash day

If you have not had a house professionally washed before, here is what happens:

  • We work from the ground. We can clean any building up to three stories safely from the ground.
  • Low pressure on the house. Siding can be damaged by high pressure, so our house washing is a soft wash where the solution does the cleaning.
  • Plants and furniture are protected before a roof gets cleaned.
  • Pressure goes on concrete. Driveways, patios, sidewalks and curbs get power washing, with a surface cleaner on the flat areas.
  • Gutters get a full flush, and we take after pictures.

Schofield weather

The weather station at the Wausau Downtown Airport, about a mile from Schofield, averages about 64 inches of snow a year. It records about 163 nights below freezing and about 25 nights below zero, and its average winter temperature is 18 degrees Fahrenheit.
