Wisconsin Rapids House Washing and Gutters
Wisconsin Rapids is the seat of Wood County, the same county our Marshfield shop sits in, about 25 miles to the southeast. The city was established in the late 1830s because the rapids on the Wisconsin River were good sites for water-driven sawmills, and the river later powered its paper mills.
Mill-town houses
A city that old has a lot of established housing. More than four in ten of its homes went up before 1960, and half before about 1964.
Older siding is where a gentle wash earns its keep, and our house washing is a low-pressure soft wash.
Where mildew hides on a house
People usually notice the obvious spots. A few get missed:
- Walls behind trees and shrubs, where the air hardly moves. This is where mildew is most common.
- Eaves and porch ceilings. Dew forms on unheated parts of a house like these, and that dew is enough moisture for mildew.
- Carport ceilings, for the same reason.
Mildew grows best where it is warm and humid, but it turns up in cold northern states too. Central Wisconsin qualifies. Our house washing covers your home's whole exterior, eaves included; point out porch ceilings when you book.
Gutters, then concrete
Wisconsin Rapids averages about 48 inches of snow a year, with snow on the ground about 102 days and about 163 nights below freezing.
Two jobs follow from that. In fall, gutters and downspouts should be clear before the snow comes, because when they clog, water can end up in the shingles or behind the siding. In spring, driveways and sidewalks come out of winter coated in grit, and power washing takes it off.
Windows can go on the same visit if they need it. Offices, shops and warehouses in town get a quote for each building.
